In some exciting news, The Joburg Ballet recently welcomed their new Ballet Mistress, Kim Vieira. Joburg Ballet’s CEO Elroy Fillis-Bell said; “I am proud to announce the appointment of the talented and accomplished Kim Vieira as Joburg Ballet’s new Ballet Mistress. With a wealth of experience in professional ballet companies in South Africa and abroad, Kim brings her knowledge and expertise to our studios and through her coaching and teaching will bring out the best in our talented professional dancers.”

Kim Vieira was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. She studied at the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg and was taught by José Pretorius.

Blessed with a rich heritage of ballet experience with the Dutch National Ballet in The Netherlands for ten years, The State Theatre Ballet for four years and Cape Town City Ballet as a principal dancer, senior principal dancer and répétiteur for twelve years, Kim’s creativity and experience shines through her passion for teaching and coaching.

Other career highlights include working alongside well-known choreographers and producers at Cape Town City Ballet, among them Lynn Wallis, Kenneth Tindal, Veronica Paeper, Julian Moss, Rebecca Metzger and Diane White.

On passing her Cecchetti Associates (Teachers), she now brings her experience to younger dancers in South Africa and is currently completing her Cecchetti Associate Diploma.

Spreading her horizons, Kim owns Dancebykim DBK, a bespoke leotard company servicing national and international clients. Kim has become a licenced GYROTONIC® trainer. Along with rehab and wellbeing, she is also a Sports and Holistic Massage therapist through the Healing Hands Wellness Institute. Kim has also completed a two-year business course, Higher Certificate in Business Principles and Practice, through Varsity College.
