It’s not every day that you get to experience other cultures and traditions other than your own. This is why I was delighted to take a trip to the Mall of Africa and come experience Incredible India for myself.
When we arrived we were treated to Henna or Mehendi which is something I always love having.
Once the show started I was a lucky chosen guest to demonstrate how a woman is draped in a sari, by a lady who was an expert in doing so. The material was absolutely beautiful and being dressed in a Sari is an art all on it’s own. I also had my make up done by Sumaya Thasthigir from Malaikas Beauty and Jewellery.
I also had an opportunity to try on a punjabi in bright yellow and blue colours. The outfits, jewellery and shoes are available at the various stalls at incredible India.
Incredible India has become an annual event that South African and African Indian communities have come to look forward to at Mall of Africa. It is a lifestyle, food and cultural experience with exhibitors boasting the very best in international Indian clothing, cosmetic jewellery, silk carpets, homeware and more.
You’ll find intricately detailed and exquisite saris, design Kurti tops, perfectly cut and styled Punjabis or even the bridal gown of your dreams. Walk the lanes of “India”, taking in the sights and sounds of true Indian fashions and accessories.
Entertainment includes live performances from local Indian artists, magician, Ryan the Illusionist and artists all the way from India.
An Indian shopping experience cannot go without traditional Indian cuisine, of which there will be plenty of options of tantalizing and flavourful foods and treats.
The kaleidoscope of colours, cultures, goods and flavours on offer will have you coming back for more, no matter what your Indian influence and interest.
Incredible India been extended by popular demand from the 7th May 2018 until the 13th May 2018. The event promises to be an extravaganza of authentic Indian lifestyle, fashion, culture and cuisine as local and international exhibitors display their wares and delight your senses.
