Taking pictures is like tiptoeing into the kitchen late at night and stealing Oreo cookies. – Diane Arbus

Well this is how I felt on my way to my very first photo shoot. I was nervous and I didn’t know what to expect. Would it be like what  you see on tv? Would I have to pout and make funny poses? My mind was reeling with all kinds of scenarios. As we approached my destination I took a deep breath and opened the car door. I got out and as I looked up there was a lady with a big smile on her face waiting for me at the gate. As I entered I was greeted once again with that warm smile and friendly hand shake. All that worry and nervousness I had felt was gone. I felt comfortable and at ease. Who was this lady you ask? This lady was my photographer Nicolene Day from Daylight Photography.

Nicolene Day’s earliest recollection with a camera was at the tender age of 13 while on a school tour. She recalls taking photos of anything and everything that intrigued her in their natural habitat, and realised that by capturing these images she could take these memories home with her.

From taking photo’s on her school tour to capturing priceless moments of her busy daughter, what had been a simple hobby all these years had now turned into a passion she yearned to pursue. So Nicolene completed a photography course through Nikon SA with Norman Pearman and later this year she will be completing a diploma course in photography as well.

Over a year ago Nicolene decided to officially start Daylight Photography.  ‘Day’ as her surname and ‘light’ as she loves capturing moments in natural light.

Samantha Visser from Bridal Essence has recently joined the Daylight Photography team. Samantha will be doing the make up for the boudoir and portrait photo shoots. If you would like to know more about Bridal Essence you can go to their Facebook page: http://www.Facebook.com/Bridallessence.

As a photographer starting up in the industry Nicolene believes in giving clients the perfect captured moments they ask for. As a natural light photographer Nicolene wants the clients captured memories to be as real as possible and not posed.

Before we knew it time was up and it was time to go home. I was sad to leave as I had so much fun during the shoot. I felt comfortable to be myself in front of the camera. I arrived as a client and left as a friend.
